Global Research Network on Belt and Road Initiative has recently organize its 7th Global Research Network – Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) Conference 2023 (https://bri.uonbi.ac.ke/), hosted by the Department of Management Science and Project Planning, University of Nairobi (UoN) in conjunction with Global Transport and Logistics Research Group, RMIT University, Department of Transport and Supply Chain Management, University of Johannesburg, Zhejiang University, Ocean College, and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia. The conference was held on a hybrid mode at the University of Nairobi, Kenya from February 7-9, 2023. More than 150 participants attended in-person or online sessions to exchange insights on Belt and Road Initiative past, present and future challenges and opportunities in Africa.

The conference was inaugurated by Hon. Onesimus Kipchumba Murkomen, Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Roads and Transport, along with Hon. Eliud O. Owalo, Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Information, Communication; and Prof. Vincent Machuki, member of the President’s Council of Economic Advisors (CEA). Hon. Vice Chancellor, Prof Stephen Gitahi Kiama opened and chaired the plenary session; whilst Prof. Ogeng’o Julius A, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic Affairs delivered the closing remark.
